To Eat Meat or Not

People often ask me why I don’t eat meat.
Firstly, it’s because I feel healthier without it.
Secondly, I don’t like the way the farming industry treats the animals.
Thirdly, I believe that intensive farming is bad for the environment.

Have a look at this video, but be warned, you may not feel like eating a burger afterwards.

RIP Gregory Isaacs

Jamaican reggae star Gregory Isaacs, best known for the 1982 song “Night Nurse”, has died at his London home, aged 59.

Isaacs is best known for his 1982 album, Night Nurse, particularly the title track which he recorded at Bob Marley’s studios in Kingston. A prolific singer with a silky voice, he released over 500 albums and collaborated with some of the biggest names in reggae, including producer Sugar Minott, who also died this year.

“Gregory was well-loved by everyone, his fans and his family,” said his wife Linda. “He worked really hard to make sure he delivered the music they loved and enjoyed.”

Nicknamed The Cool Ruler by fans, Isaacs was diagnosed with lung cancer last year.

Jeffrey Daniel taught Michael Jackson to Moonwalk

Most people (including myself) thought that Michael Jackson RIP invented the moonwalk. However the dance, originally called “the backslide” has been around since the 1930′s and Michael was taught how to do it by Jeffrey Daniel of 80′s Soul group Shalamar.

If you would like to impress your friends with the Moonwalk, watch this…

Lupe Fiasco Exposes Record Label Practices

The music industry is going through dramatic changes. In the (good / bad) old days, record companies spent millions of dollars (of our money) paying for artists and executives to live lavish lifestyles, while we bought albums that contained only 3 or 4 good songs and filled with 10 throw-away tracks.

Now with the power of the internet, we can download the few songs we like for pennies, or even free, resulting in a lot less money for the artists and the label bosses.

We haven’t yet found a balance where the public receives quality music at a reasonable price and the industry people are paid correctly for their work. At the moment labels are cutting costs and making artists sign contracts that seem unfair. Nas has recently been very vocal about his gripes with Def Jam and now Lupe Fisaco has spoken candidly about the 360 deal his record label tried to push on him and the ridiculous way they’ve mismanaged his A’n'R.

Check out the video of his speech.

Willow Smith – Whip My Hair

Willow Smith is the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. She has already acted in a few movies and is now signed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation record label. Although Willow sounds like a grown woman on this song, she is actually only 9 years old.
