Noah and the Whale are a four-piece band from London who are signed to Mercury Records and currently touring The UK. I love the Yuksek remix of their single ‘Life is Life’ which is totally different from the original version (see video below)

Today I woke up to the terrible news that Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London flat.
For many reasons I am truly gutted. Because she was such an amazing talent who made Soul music fashionable again, because I was hoping that she would recover from her addictions, because I hated the way the tabloid press hounded her, because I interviewed her and she was lovely, smart and genuine; but mainly because her album Back to Black was one of the last albums that I bought on CD and played non-stop. RIP Amy, thanks for leaving us some great music.
Check out this amazing remix of Williams Blood by legend Grace Jones. This song is about how she takes after the musical side of the family rather than that of her disciplinarian father Reverend Robert Jones. According to the lyrics, Jones’ mother reveals that her grandfather (Williams) was a musician who traveled with Nat King Cole, womanizing and drinking from town to town.

Yesterday the original version of ‘Rolling in the Deep’ by Adele came on the radio and it stimulated a conversation with my companion about how long it will take before people are tired of hearing this song, and when radio stations will decide to stop playing it. Then I heard this awesome house remix by Nicademass, with an old school feel that I thought you might appreciate.

I can’t deny it – I LOVE Vampire Weekend, so when I pressed play and heard Jesus Flag American Fish by San Diego band Cuckoo Chaos, it was natural that I would love the melodies, vocals and general “feel good” vibe of this song. The song is available as a 7″ with B-side “Jamb Song” which has a completely different sound.
